Tuesdays With Dorie – Chocolate Whopper Malted Drops
These cookies came out boringly well! I guess that’s a good thing, but it’s almost embarrassing how little I have to say about the cookies. I was happy to see that there is far less butter than the previous week’s recipe. The batter was great, and the cookies came out nicely. I liked the crunch the Whoppers added to the whole affair.
Let me share a little Ugly Dude baking secret with you: after a hot, sweaty, extended day at the gym, sometimes you just gotta bake cookies without a shirt on. So that’s what I did. Some would say that the secret ingredient was pit-sweat. I’d say the secret ingredient was extra chocolate. You decide.

Umm… pit sweat… adds that little salty something? I’m going to hope the secret was chocolate, just so I can sleep at night, k?

Personally, I’m hoping for the chocolate. I can’t go with the alternative. Nice looking cookies!

i agree with caitlin…you should tell your taste testers it’s fleur de sel!

So unfair!
Men can cook without shirts on, but if we ladies try it….things might get a bit scorched.

Your cookies look great. Mine came out boringly well also… I guess that’s a good thing though. Hopefully your tasters aren’t also readers, cause the thought of pit sweat turns the stomach a little. 🙂

OK, that borders on TMI! Sometimes boring is a good thing, especially when it means the cookies turn out looking like yours!

Boring is good. I’m going with the extra chocolate. I am admiring the puffiness of your cookies — mine were flat little buggers.
September 9, 2008 at 11:30 am
I agree. Sometimes you’ve just gotta stand free at the oven and hope for the best. Your cookies look great.

Thank you for sharing your baking secret. Now, every time when I look at food on your blog, I will think “pit sweat!” 😉
September 9, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Perfect! A little sweat never hurt anyone. Salt is a very good thing indeed. 😉

they look delicious! I skipped out on making these this week. Probably a mistake but oh well. . ..
September 9, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Dude – nice job! Hard to post sometimes when you really have nothing to say about the recipe and how it all worked out. Hahahah
Have a delicious day!

I’ve heard of saliva making the dish, so I often feel free to taste liberally as I go. I think you’re the first in history to suggest that pit sweat might add a certain extra something to your dish. I’ll have to take your word for it, since I can’t imagine myself doing the equivalent. Topless….

I can get used to things going boringly well on the baking front. I know from experience, when it goes bad it is usually a colossal disaster and I can only handle that now and again.
September 10, 2008 at 1:31 am
Aahhhh pit sweat! 😀
Your cookies look beautiful! Great job :O)
September 10, 2008 at 2:16 am
Can I just say ewwww…. Now I’m kind of regretting ever tasting any of your cooking. LOL.
September 10, 2008 at 9:51 am
Your cookies are all curvacious and bumpy. Like little nuggets of braille that read “Kristie, your cookies were flat and sticky.” Must you mock?
September 10, 2008 at 9:58 am
A little funk in the kitchen never hurt! 😉
September 10, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Your cookies look delish! Enjoy after your work out at the gym!
September 11, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Nothing like baking in the buff! Just stay away from the burners!
September 11, 2008 at 10:24 pm
There’s nothing wrong with boringly good cookies…. nothin’ at tall! Nice work!
September 12, 2008 at 9:06 am
I hope that it was chocolate, that’s for sure! Your cookies really look great.
September 16, 2008 at 3:33 am
