Tuesdays With Dorie – Honey Nut Scones and Far Breton

The end is nigh. The taskmasters at Tuesdays With Dorie are hellbent on getting the cookbook finished in December, and so we are seeing some “double-recipe weeks” scattered in here.

First up: honey nut scones. Except, I forgot to put the nuts in. Honey scones. They were a bit dry plain, but I served them with some jams and some honey and everyone seemed to like them.

The other recipe is Far Breton. What the hell is Far Breton? I don’t know. It’s either a far or a breton. I can’t really explain it to you, and I’ve eaten half the damn thing. It’s like a pudding cake made of teafruit? I don’t know. Whatever it is, it’s really, really good. I’ll see how this goes over at work tomorrow, though. People don’t often take to slimy prune cakes.

Tuesdays With Dorie is drawing to a close, and I will not be following the bakers on their journey through the next cookbook. Instead, I will spend my Tuesdays doing all the recipes that I haven’t done from this book (January through June 2008). After that, I won’t stop baking. Without actually using the name, know that I’ll be having Tuesdays With Spoodles. I’m going to bake something – anything – that I feel like baking, preferably something new. Then I’ll post about it. Then you’ll barf.
